Visiting Champagne without a car
The essentials
- TGV (high-speed train) from Paris-Est to Reims: about 45 minutes.
- TER (regional train) from Reims to Épernay: about 30 minutes.
- You can visit Reims and the Avenue de Champagne on foot.
- For the villages: guided tour, taxi or e-bike.
Why it is the right option
After a tasting, nobody should drive. Without a car, nobody has to take the wheel after a visit, and nobody hunts for parking outside a cellar.
The pattern that works
- Arrive in Reims by TGV, then visit the city and a house on foot.
- Take the TER to Épernay the next morning.
- Walk to the Avenue de Champagne and the museum from the station.
- Book a half-day guided tour to a wine village.
The limits
The Côte des Bar and the small villages stay hard to reach without a vehicle. Book a tour with transport included, or a driver.
